October 31, 2007T-shirt illustration contest at HideYourArms.comWow, busy day eh? One last (huge) announcement: HideYourArms.com is running an illustration contest with mimoco apparel! The idea is this: There are three tees from mimoco’s new apparel line up for grabs and all you have to do to win is create an illustration with a mimobot in it. Yeah, it’s that simple. Let your imagination go wild, draw anything you want in any style you want, just make sure it involves a mimobot in some way. You can feel free to incorporate Hide Your Arms into the illustration too, but that isn’t a submission requirement. So what are you waiting for? Get on over there and illustrate, illustrate, ill... well, you get the idea. Good luck! And make sure to pick up your own mimoco apparel at our lab! Posted by dan at 06:20 PMmimobots the perfect gifts, sez WiredWhat do mimobots have in common with the Apple iPhone, Nintendo Wii, BlackBerry Pearl, and the Toyota Prius? They're all ultimate gifts, according to the most awesome of tech magazines! So we got our hands on the latest issue of Wired (one of our very favorite magazines, up there with Giant Robot and Beautiful Decay), and were shocked and amazed to see our very own R2-D2 mimobot from the Star Wars Series 1 mentioned as the ultimate gift... for a system administrator! "...this is for thwarting system failures and booting Linux off of any machine anywhere in your network, all the while showing off your geek cred with a little '80s droid action." We've gotta say, R2 is pretty cool; 'geek' cred is one thing, but remember that Star Wars is hawtness no matter who you are and the Star Wars Series 1 mimobots are doubly hawt. Check out the current issue, in stores now, to see what you should get for Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, and other cool people - we still think it should be mimobots! EDIT: Hey, it's up on the Interweb! Check the story out here!

Posted by dan at 10:28 AM October 30, 2007Vinyl Massacre party at Lab a slashing success! So this past weekend (Oct. 27th, to be precise), we had a party with Lab Boston for Halloween - it was Vinyl Massacre, and it rocked! If you missed it, I'm sorry, but you missed a good time with some crazy talented people. We had costumes and a 1-hour extreme Vimobot Design Contest that turned out some very, very good stuff. Enjoy these pictures of the awesomeness!

We now feature hoodies, track jackets, and wallets by Gama-Go; and a selection of bags, keychains, and coin purses by Gary Baseman and HARVEY! Head over to the apparel and accessories section of our store and order yours today! Posted by dan at 03:09 PMOctober 26, 2007Wired LivingHome HousewarmingWired LivingHome is here, and public tours start November 1st, lasting only through the 10th. Are you a techie (you're at mimoco.com, so we'll assume so...)? Do you believe in a greener Earth? Is there a copy of Al Gore's movie under your pillow? If you answered 'yes' to any of these, then you need to check out the Wired LivingHome. The project, located in an "exclusive enclave of Los Angeles" may well be a window to a future where humankind lives more harmoniously with nature. Everything about the house is green, from the low-power-usage appliances to the hydrogen-powered BMW parked in the garage. What does this have to do with mimoco, you ask? Proudly, we're a sponsor of the Wired LivingHome (we said 'yes' to two of the three questions we posed). If you're in LA during the public tour period, make sure you stop by and check out the LivingHome - and look for our own Fairybit Fairybot hanging around the computer room (get it? She's green! Ha ha ha). Posted by dan at 09:34 AMOctober 24, 2007Happy 50th Issueversary, Giant Robot! So on Monday, the mimoco office received a very exciting publication: the 50th issue of Giant Robot, one of our favorite magazines ever. And in celebration, mimoco is sponsoring a Giant Robot 50th Issueversary Giveaway Contest! You'll have to pick up the latest issue to find out the rules, but suffice to say 50 (!) mimobots will be given away, along with 24 Naruto Xbox games! Good Lord, have you ever heard of a giveaway with such monumental awesomeness? I thought not. So head out and pick up Giant Robot #50, enter their contest, and good luck winning a mimobot!
October 22, 2007mimoco at E For All 2007!That's right, we just got back from the City of Angels (returning, of course, to the City of Red Sox) where we peddled our artistic wares at the E For All video game show. Naturally, this was the Halo mimobot Series 1's coming out party, since they officially went on sale the same day E For All started. The show started off quite well, with lots of visitors on a Thursday (what, Californians don't work? Must be nice!). The rest of the show was rather slow, though, with low foot traffic and plenty of time for me to play Unreal 3, Guitar Hero 3 and, the cream of the crop, Rock Friggin' Band! Honestly though, E For All attendees seemed to dig the Halo 'bots (and the Star Wars Series 1), and there were plenty of "Finish the file transfer!" shouts thrown about (big ups to Gizmodo's Brian Lam for the play-on-words). LA pretty much rocked outside the show, where I personally tore up the Brass Monkey bar on Wilshire with a stunning rendition of "The Humpty Dance." The mimopeeps also made our appearances at Mann's Chinese Theater and the Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Long Beach. Well, that was our trip; with Master Chief and his cadre of Spartans in tow, we successfully invaded Los Angeles and had a wonderful time. For those of you who we were lucky enough to meet at the show, thanks for coming by, and with winter coming make sure you have a protoHoodie to keep your mimobots warm! Posted by dan at 05:22 PM |
